Survivor Leadership Training
The Survivor Leadership Training builds participants’ capacities for healing and organizing, creating a space to learn organizing strategies and further develop an array of tools for the individual healing journey. This intimate cohort-based program is for adults 21 years of age who can participate in all sessions (see dates and times below).
SLT Program will return in January 2023.
What is The ‘me too.’ Survivor Leadership Training?
The ‘me too.’ Survivor Leadership Training is a 12-week online program that will support 15 burgeoning survivor-leaders in identifying their unique voice; prepare them with foundational knowledge to lead in their communities; and provide them with tangible organizing skills to make meaningful impact.
Who is this training for?
This no-cost training is for anyone who identifies as a survivor of sexual assault and who is excited to grow their organizing skills in service of holding their communities accountable to end sexual violence. Queer, low-income, people of color, trans, gender non-conforming, disabled, immigrant and first-generation peoples are encouraged to apply.
What will participants learn?
Participants will learn about the roots of sexual violence, healing justice, cultural organizing, and how to develop and implement community-based intervention. Participants can expect to glean from seasoned survivor justice organizers; check in and receive support from an accountability partner; and receive a workbook and texts to guide their healing and leadership journeys. Learning-in-Service Days will be used to deepen participants’ understanding of survivor justice work happening “on the ground” and apply their learnings in real time. All of these learnings will culminate in a community intervention project that will be amplified via acttoo.metoomvmt.org
As a courtesy, participants will receive a dinner stipend and the opportunity to apply for a limited child care stipend.
When does the training take place?
Tuesday, August 31, 2021 – Tuesday, November 16, 2021
- Weekly Workshops – Tuesdays 5pm-7pm
- Weekly Circles – Wednesdays 6pm-7pm
Participants must attend both sessions per week in order to stay in good standing with the program.
